JAMMU, Oct 30: The Inter District UT Level Competition of Softball for All Age Group (AAG) Girls commenced at GGM Science College here today, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) of district Jammu.
The event, aimed at selecting top talent for upcoming tournaments, drew around 250 participants from various districts across Jammu and Kashmir UT, providing young players a platform to showcase their skills and aspire to new competitive heights.
The event was supervised by DYSSO Jammu, Sunil Kumar Sharma and I/C DYSSO Jammu. Harvinder Kour, who inspired the players to approach the matches with team spirit and determination. She emphasized the role of such competitions in nurturing future sports talent and fostering sportsmanship. The competition is being managed by a team of skilled officials, including Harvinder Singh, Amlok Singh, Varinder Singh, Jyoti Sharma, Gurbachan Singh and Opinder Singh, ensuring a high standard of play.
In the U-14 category, District Budgam defeated District Kupwara by 9-4 in the first semi-final, while District Pulwama narrowly beat District Jammu by 4-2 in the second semi-final. Budgam and Pulwama will face off in tomorrow’s final.
For U-17, District Jammu defeated District Kupwara by 6-2 in the first semi-final, and District Pulwama triumphed over District Anantnag by 11-1 in the second semi-final. Jammu and Pulwama will also compete in the U-17 final tomorrow.
In the U-19 division, District Jammu won decisively against District Bandipora with an 11-0 score, and District Srinagar overcame District Budgam by 13-2, setting the stage for intense final matches in all categories tomorrow.
