UDHAMPUR, Oct 31: The three-day training program for Central Public Information Officers (CPIOs) concluded today with a valedictory ceremony at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur.
A total of 20 officers including SPs, Sr Prosecuting Officer, & Dy SPs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police participated in this insightful training, which aimed to equip CPIOs with the knowledge and skills necessary for the effective implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005. The program addressed key challenges and highlighted best practices for handling RTI applications and disclosures.
In his valediction address, SSP Rajinder Kumar Gupta (Dy Director SKPA) commended the participants for their dedication to promoting transparency and empowering citizens through the RTI framework. He emphasized the critical role of CPIOs in ensuring access to information and fostering public trust in Government institutions.
Key highlights of the training program included: In-depth sessions on the provisions of the RTI Act, including recent amendments; workshops on drafting clear and effective responses to RTI queries while adhering to statutory deadlines; case studies on managing complex or sensitive information requests; discussions on legal challenges and the evolving landscape of information rights.
Rajinder Kumar Gupta expressed the commitment to fostering a transparent and accountable governance system through continuous capacity-building initiatives.
Certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees, followed by a vote of thanks.
