Bhalla honours ace gymnast Palak for World Cup selection

JAMMU, May 3: Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture and Youth Services & Sports, Raman Bhalla today facilitated ace International gymnast Palak Kour and her coach, Arjuna Awardee, Krupali Singh for their selection in the FIG-World Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics to be held at Tashkent in Uzbekistan from May 22 to May 25, 2014.
The World Cup will be conducted by Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation, under the aegis of International Gymnastics Federation.
Bhalla lauded the efforts of the players and coaches, especially gymnastics coach, Krupali Singh’s hard-work and conviction for honing the skill of the State gymnasts and enabling them to reach at the International level and keep their State’s flag high.
Wishing the duo best of luck for the upcoming World Cup, Mr Bhalla hoped that the talented gymnast would continue to bring laurels for the State and the Country as well.
Mr Bhalla reiterated the resolve of J & K Government in promoting sports and games and fulfilling the interest of sportspersons of the State.
It is pertinent to mention here that the selection of Palak has been done during the trials conducted by Gymnastics Federation of India at Allahabad on April 22, 2014.
Student of 12th Class, Palak is undergoing training at Indoor Sports Complex, MA Stadium in Jammu.
Champion gymnast, Palak has earlier also made her State proud by representing the Country in the World Championships at Ukrain in 2013, Asian Championships at Uzbekistan in 2013 and Children of Asia Games at Russia in 2008.
Palak has also an honour of being selected as the core probable for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held in Scotland in the month of July, 2014 and Asian Games in South Korea in November, 2014.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were the members of Gymnastics Association including Ranjeet Kalra, Member BCCI and J&K State Sports Council; Kuldeep Handoo, National Wushu coach and Member J & K State Sports Council and former International gymnasts Manpreet, Mayank Jain, Ravia Verma, Honey Mehra, Tejpal Kour, Gourav Sharma and Honey Mehra.
