JAMMU, Nov 11: Jammu Sanskriti School Jammu, in partnership with Erudite, hosted a Model United Nations (MUN) conference that gathered enthusiastic students from various schools to debate and collaborate on pressing global issues.
The event aimed to cultivate leadership, critical thinking and a nuanced understanding of international relations in young minds. Nitish Rajotra, SDM North Jammu, attended as the chief guest, underscoring the importance of initiatives that prepare youth for informed and responsible global citizenship. Principals from several other reputed schools also graced the occasion.
In her address, Rohini Aima, Principal and Vice-Chairperson of Jammu Sanskriti School Jammu, emphasized the significance of MUNs in building essential skills beyond traditional classroom learning. “Model United Nations is about understanding diverse perspectives, working collaboratively, and finding solutions to complex problems,” she said, noting that the young delegates have the potential to shape a brighter future.
Students acted as diplomats representing different countries, engaging in lively debates on global topics such as climate change and international conflicts. The best delegation trophy was awarded to GD Goenka Public School, Jammu. Several participants stood out for their contributions across various committees: Athrav Sharma from GD Goenka was recognized in the UNHCR, while Aayan Singh, Aarayna Sambyal (journalist), Angel Choudhary (photographer), Suhas Koul (Lok Sabha), Shivon Sharma (UNICEF), and Muzzammil Ahmed Rathore from DPS Kathua earned individual awards for their roles.
Guneet Singh, Founder and President of Erudite Youth Committee and event organizer, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “At Erudite, we are proud to support events that inspire students to become active contributors to a better world,” he said.
