JAMMU, May 9: Senior State peddler, Sanjay Wahi (India No 4) declared 1st Stag Jammu Open Table Tennis Championship opened in presence of other senior players Satbir Singh (India No 6), Harinder Mahajan, Rajan Sharma, Dr Dharminder Magotra, I P Singh, Manmeet Kaur and Renuka Thussu in an impressive function, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Wahi lavished praise for the senior coach, Ramesh Magotra and I P Singh for opening the Stag Table Tennis Academy which is equipped with latest Tables and Robot to help in uplifting the game of Table Tennis in the State.
In Under-12 cadet boys, Anant Rohmetra outplayed Akhilesh by (11-7, 11-8) in a close contest, while Hanumant got better of Maanay by (11-7, 11-3), Ansh drubbed Abhishek by (11-4, 11-7) and Rajvir defeated Shivain by (11-6, 11-7).
In Under12 cadet girls, Iknoor Kour won the final in a hard fought match, trouncing  Ashmeet Kaur  by (11-9, 13-11, 12-10) Iknoor earlier defeated Archita Kesar in straight games by  (11-8, 11-7) and got better of Meghna by (11-6 ,  7-11, 11-8).
In junior girls, Meghna beat Archita by (14-12, 9-11, 11-8) and Ashmeet Kaur  outplayed Iknoor Kour by (11-8, 11-7).
The Tournament will conclude on May12, 2014.
