JAMMU, Nov 27: In an inspiring ceremony hosted by Delhi Public School Jammu, under the Maharaja Hari Singh Social and Educational Foundation, Tilak Raj Sudan was felicitated for setting a world record for the longest solo car ride by a specially-abled individual. Sudan’s remarkable journey covered 2,200 kilometers across Rajouri, Srinagar, Leh, Ladakh, Pangong, and Manali, traversing the highest motorable roads in the world. His journey carried the powerful message, “Mera Badalta Naya Jammu and Kashmir-Leh Ladakh.”
Despite being 100% specially-abled due to a spinal cord injury, Sudan proved that determination knows no bounds, accomplishing this extraordinary feat. The event was attended by notable figures, including Raman Gupta, a philanthropist and businessman, and Sandhya Dhar, a disability rights activist and founder of the JIGER Foundation, Jammu.
Dr. Ritu Singh praised Sudan’s courage, calling him a symbol of resilience and inclusivity. In her speech, Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of empowerment for individuals of all abilities and encouraged students to draw inspiration from Sudan’s unwavering determination.
As part of the felicitation, Dr. Singh presented Sudan, Gupta, and Dhar with potted plants, paintings, and Khadi certificates in recognition of their remarkable contributions. Sudan, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude to his family for their support and to the Foundation for recognizing his efforts.
The event concluded with a musical performance by the DPS Jammu choir, leaving a lasting impact on attendees, particularly the students, who were inspired by Sudan’s story of perseverance and triumph.
