KARGIL, Nov 29: The Food Safety, Drug & Food Control Organization organized a Walkathon and Eat Right Mela in Kargil today to promote health, safety, and food awareness. The event, centered on the theme “Eating Right,” aimed to encourage the community to adopt healthier eating habits and highlight the importance of food safety.
The event kicked off at 10:00 am with a Walkathon, which was flagged off by Er. Punchok Tashi, Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil. Participants walked through the town to spread the message of a healthy lifestyle.
At 11:30 am, the Eat Right Mela was inaugurated at the Auditorium Hall. The Executive Councillor, along with other dignitaries, visited the various stalls, which focused on educating the public about food safety and healthier choices in everyday life. A short speech by the Designated Officer of Food Safety UT Ladakh emphasized the importance of ensuring food safety.
The event also featured a captivating performance by the Kargil Theater Club and an Eat Right Quiz. The day concluded with a felicitation ceremony where the Designated Officer honoured the guests with a traditional Khatak. A vote of thanks was presented to all the participants, dignitaries, and line departments.
