Drug peddler arrested, lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah

DODA, Nov 30: Police in Doda district claimed to have arrested a local drug peddler and lodged him in the District Jail Bhaderwah under preventive detention.
A police official said that multiple complaints were received about Rasim Faried, a resident of Dandi Bhaderwah, who was allegedly involved in drug peddling and influencing local youth to consume and sell drugs.
Based on the information, the police conducted an investigation and compiled a detailed report on his activities, he said.
Thereafter, he said, a police team led by Inspector Sandeep Parihar, SHO Bhaderwah Police Station, apprehended Faried and presented him before the Executive Magistrate Class 1st, Bhaderwah.
He was subsequently sent to District Jail Bhaderwah under Section 129 of the J&K Preventive Detention Act, said the police official. “This action was part of a special drive initiated by Police under the leadership of newly appointed SSP Sandeep Mehta to curb drug abuse in the region,” added the police official.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the police have appealed to the public to cooperate and provide any information regarding drug peddling or addiction in their areas, assuring that strict action will be taken against offenders.
SSP Mehta urged the community to support the police by reporting such activities, stressing that collective efforts are essential to protect the youth and society from the devastating effects of drugs.
