JAMMU, Dec 3: A momentous occasion unfolded at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women (PSPS GCW), Gandhinagar, as the Student Welfare Committee hosted the Investiture Ceremony to honour the newly elected student council. The event, graced by Principal Dr. S.P. Sarswat, senior faculty members, proud parents, and enthusiastic students, marked the beginning of a new era in student leadership.
The ceremony commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing enlightenment, followed by a soulful Saraswati Vandana, invoking wisdom and knowledge. Inspiring addresses by Head Girl Jeevika Misri, Vice-President Ashpreet Kour, and President Sanjeevani Bhardwaj outlined their vision for unity, discipline and collective growth.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of sashes and badges to the newly appointed class representatives (CRs) and volunteers from the 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters. The honours were conferred by Principal Dr. Sarswat, Dr. Anjali Bhat (Dean Arts), Dr. Meenakshi Bandral (Dean Sciences), Dr. Asha Bharti (Dean Commerce) and proud parents. The council members, including President Sanjeevani Bhardwaj, took center stage as they received their symbols of responsibility.
A poignant moment was the passing of the leadership torch from outgoing President Ashpreet Kour to newly elected President Sanjeevani Bhardwaj, symbolizing continuity and commitment.
Principal Dr. Sarswat urged the new council to lead with empathy, accountability and innovation, inspiring them to become torchbearers of progress. The ceremony was conducted by Prof Suman Bala and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Dr. Rabia Javed, appreciating faculty, parents, and students for their contributions.
