Conference of IIMUN Mumbai concludes at Heritage School

JAMMU, May 12: Three day long conference of International Indian Model United Nations (IIMUN), Mumbai concluded at Heritage School.
The students don the mantle of ambassadors of member nations and discuss, debate, and draft resolutions on contemporary issues like eradication of illicit drug crops and alternative development, women’s rights in middle-eastern countries, availability of safe drinking water, human trafficking and maternal health.
The Jammu chapter of IIMUN was the grand success with 80 students from various reputed schools of Jammu participating in it.
The training session for the delegates held prior to the event offered the delegates a clear understanding of UN procedures and important terms such as drafts, resolutions and caucuses.
Over the course of three days, the delegates debated, discussed, caucused, and wrote resolutions on their topics, besides dealing with “crisis situations”. They were judged on their ability to negotiate, think and listen and awareness of international politics, the agenda topic being discussed, and their country’s foreign policy on the issue.
The Executive Board members, who were observing the delegates throughout the conference, announced the names of Best Delegates in the closing ceremony.
Brijesh Choudhary delegate of UK and Anandi Gandotra delegate of France were adjudged as Best Delegates, Righa Singh delegate of Sweden and Sunanjita Mahajan delegate of Argentina received High Commendation, Tahil  Choudhary delegate of Iraq and Supriya Singh delegate of Pakistan got Special Mention.
The winners were felicitated by the chief guest on the occasion Rajeev Khajuria, President, National Development Foundation.
In the end, Hardik Jain, Vice President, IIMUN presented vote of thanks.
The closing ceremony came to an end with General Secretary IIMUN Ayush Kedia hitting the judge’s hammer.
