DIG JSK Range reviews winter preparedness, security in Kathua

KATHUA, Dec 7: Shiv Kumar Sharma, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, today conducted a comprehensive security review meeting in Billawar area of Kathua district.
The meeting focused on winter preparedness for security operations in the region.
DIG Sharma was joined by SSP Kathua Shobit Saxena, SP Operations Aumer Iqbal, DySP Operations Malhar Sukhvir Singh, SDPO Billawar Shavinder Singh, SHO Billawar, and representatives from other security agencies, including the CRPF.
The DIG stressed the need for a strong security plan and proactive measures to counter threats from Over Ground Workers (OGWs), Anti-National Elements (ANEs), and Anti-Social Elements (ASEs).
He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness among the public and encouraged them to report any suspicious or terrorist activities to the nearest police station.
Further, Sharma directed officers to focus on dismantling the support systems for terrorism in areas like Malhar, Machedi and Badnota.
He also instructed the strengthening of security check posts, particularly during the night, and recommended the installation of CCTV cameras at key locations, including bridges like Ujh, Varun Devta, and Ludhar.
The DIG called for improved coordination between all security agencies and for the creation of a robust security grid to address potential threats.
He also stressed the need for regular operations, such as CASOs, to eliminate terrorists and ensure the security of vulnerable points, including river routes and nallahs.
