JAMMU, Dec 10: Senior BJP leader and MLA Bahu constituency, Vikram Randhawa today strongly condemned the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s support for the Rohingya community, who are residing as illegal immigrants in the Jammu region.
In a statement issued here, today, Vikram Randhawa demanded immediate and strict action to deport Rohingyas from Jammu and Kashmir, citing the adverse impact of their illegal settlement on the region. Highlighting the plight of the Bahu constituency, he said it has been one of the worst-affected constituencies due to the presence of these illegal immigrants. “Most of them are involved in theft, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities, causing distress among the local population,” he asserted.
The senior BJP leader further warned that if the issue is not addressed urgently, these illegal settlements will pose a significant threat to the region’s demographic balance in the coming years. He emphasized that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have the first and foremost right over the State’s resources, including power and water supply, which are currently being strained by the presence of illegal immigrants. He further underlined the BJP’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and ensuring the State’s resources are utilized for its rightful citizens.
Taking a jibe at Omar Abdullah’s “soft corner” for the Rohingyas, Randhawa remarked, “If Omar Abdullah feels humanitarian sympathy for these illegal immigrants then he should shift all these Rohingyas to Kashmir rather than burdening the Jammu region.”
Randhawa appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to take decisive action against this growing issue. “I urge the LG to immediately deport all Rohingyas from Jammu and Kashmir to protect the interests of the local population and ensure the region’s demographic stability,” he said.
The senior BJP leader reiterated that the security, resources, and welfare of the people of Jammu must not be compromised under any circumstances. He called upon all stakeholders to unite and support measures to address the challenges posed by illegal immigration in the region.
