Migrant labourer found murdered in Garkhal village

JAMMU, Dec 10: A migrant labourer was brutally murdered in the border village of Garkhal in Akhnoor area late last night. The incident came to light today morning when locals discovered the body in the fields and informed the police.
The deceased was identified as Pappu Paswan (39), son of late Meghu Paswan, a resident of Araria district in Bihar. Paswan had been living in a rented house in Garkhal, Akhnoor, for the past several months and was working as a daily wage labourer.
According to police reports, Paswan was attacked and killed with a sharp-edged weapon, believed to be a spade. The Akhnoor police, led by SHO Tariq Ahmed, took custody of the body and began an investigation.
During the preliminary inquiry, a local man, reportedly a friend of the deceased, was arrested on suspicion. Sources revealed that the arrested individual allegedly had an affair with Paswan’s wife. The murder is believed to have occurred following a heated quarrel when Paswan became aware of the affair.
The police have registered a case and collected evidence from the crime scene. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the murder.
