UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: The three-day training program for Central Public Information Officers (CPIOs) concluded today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) in Udhampur with a valedictory ceremony focused on promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
The program, organized at SKPA Udhampur, saw the participation of 15 officers, including SPs and DySPs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Its main objective was to enhance the officers’ knowledge and skills in effectively implementing the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
The sessions during the program addressed various challenges and shared best practices related to RTI applications and disclosures.
In his closing address, Rajinder Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director (Indoor/Trainings), praised the participants for their dedication to promoting transparency and empowering citizens through the RTI framework.
He emphasized the crucial role of CPIOs in ensuring citizens’ access to information and strengthening public trust in Government institutions.
The program included comprehensive sessions on the RTI Act, covering recent amendments, practical workshops on drafting effective RTI responses, case studies addressing complex and sensitive information requests, and discussions on the legal challenges surrounding information rights.
Rajinder Kumar Gupta commended the proactive participation of the attendees and encouraged them to continue upholding the principles of openness and accountability in their work.
He also assured that SKPA remains committed to ongoing training and capacity-building initiatives to support a transparent governance system.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants, and Gupta offered a sincere vote of thanks to the trainers, speakers, and attendees for their contributions to the program’s success.
