JAMMU, Dec 15: Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K, Rajinder Singh Tara felicitated the medal winners of the 68th National School Games U-19 Boys and Girls Wushu Championship and U-19 Boys & Girls Weightlifting Championship held at Delhi and U-19 Boys & Girls Judo Championship played at Ludhiana in an impressive function at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
J&K athletes won a total of 8 medals across these events. In Wushu, Kaifa Shah from Srinagar bagged Gold in the 60 kg category, while Ankush Manhas from Jammu clinched Silver in the 45 kg category. The Bronze medals in Wushu were won by Imran Raja (Budgam, 85 kg), Muntazir (Budgam, 56 kg), and Abhimanyu (Jammu, 65 kg). In Weightlifting, Ahtisham from Budgam won Gold, and Anya Rakwal from Jammu secured Bronze. In Judo, Nazia Fatima earned a Bronze medal.
Tara praised the athletes for their stellar performances and emphasized the Government’s efforts to enhance sports infrastructure. He also mentioned that J&K has so far won 36 medals in the ongoing 68th National School Games. All medallists will be awarded scholarships in February-March 2025.
