JAMMU, May 15: The forthcoming Buddha Amarnath Yatra will commence from July 31 and first batch of pilgrims will leave for Poonch on August 1.
This was announced by Surinder Mishra, convener of Buddha Amarnath Yatra and Bajrang Dal incharge for Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand, while talking to media persons, here today.
The week long Yatra is scheduled to culminate on Raksha Bandhan and holy mace will proceed for Buddha Amarnath on August 8, he informed adding that all historic and religious places on way from Jammu to Poonch have been connected with the pilgrimage.
On their return from Poonch, the pilgrims will reach Jammu via Shiv Khori, he added.
The Bajrang Dal leader stressed that the holy pilgrimage encourages the minority Hindus in militancy infested areas, which were abandoned by them due to terror of armed ultras.
“Due to commencement of Buddha Amarnath Yatra by Bajrang Dal, the minority Hindus who had migrated from Poonch and Rajouri, have started returning to their homes and hearths in native places despite prevailing terrorism,” he explained.
State convener of the Bajrang Dal, Navin Sudan, co-convener Rakesh Sharma, Sanjay Kumar and Madhav Vaidya were also present in the press conference.
