JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Dec 17: The FIT India Cycling Tuesdays Campaign was launched today in Jammu and Srinagar, under the aegis of STC Jammu, with the aim of promoting fitness and raising awareness about reducing pollution. The initiative encourages people to avoid using vehicles and opt for cycling on Tuesdays, contributing to a cleaner environment and a healthier lifestyle.
In Jammu, 35 riders, including men, women, and children, participated in the event. Dr. Sushil Sharma, Head of Cardiology at Government Medical College Jammu and a fitness enthusiast, flagged off the ride. Aman Sharma, CIC STC Jammu, explained the objectives of the campaign, emphasizing the importance of cycling for fitness and environmental health. Prominent attendees included SS Gill, General Secretary of the J&K Cycling Association, Anil Kumar Sharma, Director NIC, and fitness icon Sudhir Anand.
In Srinagar, 15 cyclists braved the cold weather to join the campaign. The event was flagged off by Mohd. Akbar, a leading biker in the State. Like their counterparts in Jammu, the cyclists received participation certificates and souvenir caps, further promoting the message of health and fitness through cycling.
