Ashwani brings laurels to J&K, tops BCCI scorer’s exam

JAMMU, July 7: The hugely experienced umpire of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Ashwani Kumar Sharma, has finally achieved his goal by not merely passing but toping the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Scorer’s Examination the result of which was declared recently.
BCCI conducted the examination under the supervision of the panel of experts including P Jaipal, Ramesh Parab and Anant Datar at its Umpires Academy, Vidharbha Cricket Association (VCA) ground at Nagpur on June 28, after holding classes from June 25.
Ashwani was among the five officials sponsored by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) and the only one who has been declared successful. The other four officials included Vivek Sharma, Javaid Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad and Ashiq Aziz.
While, Ashwani Kumar of JKCA has secured the first place in the examination, Sandeep Kumar Jee and Biraj Dash of Orissa Cricket Association have bagged second and third spot respectively.
