Challenger Club sails into semis of Pawan T20

AKHNOOR, July 7: Team effort helped Challenger Cricket Club Jammu to crush Ishar XI by a huge margin of 106 runs to sail into the semifinals of the ongoing 4th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here.
Earlier, electing to bat first, after winning the toss, Challenger Club rode on a superb batting display by first class cricketers Rakesh Koul, Manjeet Singh and Ram Dayal to score a mammoth total of 201 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 8 wickets in the process. Rakesh Koul played a brilliant innings of 51 runs off just 27 balls, studded with six boundaries and 2 sixes, while Manjeet contributed 47 off 21 balls with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. Another first class cricketer Ram Dayal contributed 28 with 3 boundaries, while Parveen Singh smashed 14-ball 21 runs, which included 2 fours and one six. For Ishar XI, speedster Sahil Sharma was the most successful bowler, who bagged 3 wickets by conceding 33 runs in his 4 overs, while Sourab took 2 wickets for 40
runs. Pavit Singh and Vishal also claimed one wicket each.
Ishar XI, in reply managed to score a paltry total of 95 runs in the allotted overs by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by a huge margin of 106 runs. Tushar Gurung (28), Vishal (21) and Atul Sharma (17) were the main contributors. For Challenger Club, Shiva and Manjeet Singh took 2 wickets each, while Rakesh Koul, Deepak Singh Manhas, Ashwani and Parveen Singh claimed one wicket apiece. Manjeet Singh was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
