KATRA, May 17: Chandigarh Wrestler, Gurmail of BSF lifted the16th Annual Bhamag Kesari Vishal Dangal title 2014 by defeating Farooq of Sarore in District Samba in a neck to neck contest at Sardabbar (Kalsote) Moungari, here today.
The event was held on the concluding day of three days Shiv Parvati Mela, under the overall supervision of president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Gurmail was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 6,000 alongwith a traditional silver gurj (Gadda), Patta and a gold medal by the chief guest, S S Bijral, retired I G P, Director Police Academy Udhampur and Shiv Kumar Sharma, while cash prize of Rs 4,000 was presented to runners-up wrestler Farooq by Swantanter Dev Kotwal and retired Z E O, Harish Kumar Dubey. The Vishal Dangal was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Police, J&K Tourism Department, J&K Bank Ltd, Amar Memorial Trust Katra and Bamhag Kesari Dangal Committee.
