*MP, Telangana lift titles; J&K bags silver in boys, bronze in girls

JAMMU, Dec 24: The 37th Sub Junior National Softball Championship concluded at MA Stadium here today, with Madhya Pradesh and Telangana emerging as Champions. The event, organized by the Softball Association of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the Softball Association of India and J&K Sports Council, saw intense competition among the top teams of the country.
In the boys’ final, Madhya Pradesh defeated Jammu and Kashmir by a dominant score of 8-2 to claim the Gold medal. In the girls’ category, Telangana triumphed over Andhra Pradesh with a 5-2 victory to secure the Gold, while Jammu and Kashmir earned the Bronze after a strong performance throughout the tournament. In addition to Softball, the Baseball-5 event also featured exciting matchups. Kerala clinched the Gold in boys’ Baseball-5, with Madhya Pradesh taking Silver and Chhattisgarh winning Bronze. In the girls’ category, Jammu and Kashmir emerged victorious, claiming the Gold, while Kerala and Madhya Pradesh secured the Silver and Bronze medals, respectively.
Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary to Government, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He commended the athletes for their discipline, sporting spirit and contributions to the event. He highlighted the importance of such competitions in fostering unity, camaraderie and cultural exchange among youth, and praised J&K for hosting numerous National events.
Chief guest Sarmad Hafeez, Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General Youth Services and Sports; Secretary J&K Sports Council,Nuzhat Gul presented trophies and medals to the winning teams, along with felicitations for the technical officials who ensured the successful conduct of the tournament.
