Five thieves held with stolen goods worth lakhs

JAMMU, May 19: Police worked out three theft cases with the arrest of five burglars and recovery of stolen goods including gold ornaments worth lakhs.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Atul Goel said that on November 25, 2013 Zulfiqar Ahmad of Mohalla Baba Jeewan Shah reported that unknown persons had stolen gold ornaments from his house during the intervening night of November 24 and 25.
A case under FIR number 76/13 was registered at police station Peer Mitha and the police picked up Arun Sharma alias Goldhu, son of Vinod Kumar of Rajinder Bazaar, Jammu. On his interrogation he admitted to have committed the crime, SSP added.
“Gold chain weighing 27 grams, two gold rings weighing 5 grams and gold tikka weighing 3.5 grams were recovered on the disclosure of the accused”, SSP maintained.
Mr Goel further stated that on March 22, 2014 afternoon burglary was reported from the house of Neha Raina of Greater Kailash Jammu and accordingly a case under FIR number 42/14 was registered at police post Greater Kailash and investigation started.
SSP said that during investigation clue struck when the stolen Nokia mobile was recovered from Mushtaq Ahmad a resident of Bhattan Ramban who told that he took this mobile from Davinder Singh, son of Bal Krishan of Kothi, district Ramban. He was immediately taken into custody and during interrogation he admitted to have committed the crime with two more persons namely Ram Kumar, son of Gopi Chand of Kordi Khatana, tehsil Arnas, district Reasi and Mohammad Tariq, son of Mohammad Aslam of Bhaghta, tehsil Katra, district Reasi. Both the persons were also arrested and on their disclosure the stolen property was recovered from Gangyal where they used to stay on rent, SSP added.
“The recovered stolen property includes 5 gold rings, gold coins (8) and biscuits (6), a pair of silver Payal, Titan wrist watch and one Nokia mobile phone”, SSP informed.
SSP further disclosed that on March 18, 2014, a burglary was reported from Narwal Pain in the house of Sheikh Mohammad Kalyan, son of Dil Mohammad of Ward number 2, Narwal Pain, Satwari and a case under FIR number 92/14 under Section 457 and 380 RPC was registered at police station Satwari and investigation started.
During investigation, police team headed by SHO Sohail Rashid picked up four suspects from the area and during questioning it came out that the son of complainant’s sister namely Mohammad Asif, son of Mohammad Sadiq of Hakkal visited the house on that date during night.
During interrogation Mohammad Asif admitted to have committed the crime by using the duplicate keys, SSP said, adding that on his discloser all the stolen gold ornaments weighing 15 tolas were recovered. The items recovered including one gold chain, 2 pair bangles, one nath, one tikka and one naama from the terrace of the third floor of the building, SSP stated.
