JAMMU, May 19: All Displaced KP United Forum (ADKPUF) in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of D N Kissu while discussing the problems of the displaced Pandits from Valley reiterated its demand for separate homeland for over 7 lakh KPs within Valley.
The meeting alleged that the previous Government at Centre failed to ameliorate the lot of displaced people leading an exiled life for last 25 years now.
It also reiterated its demand for grant of minority status to the community. It said the community has suffered an immense loss in the shape of its movable and immovable property and expressed concern over the failure of Government in not releasing the balance ex-gratia for gutted houses.
It said the properties of KPs have been burnt and usurped in Valley and the Government has failed to implement the Distress Sale Act in letter and spirit while the much talked about PM’s employment package has been kept in limbo due to which the majority of community youth have become over-aged.
He said this was why that the youth are migrating to other states for jobs and as a result the community is withering away.
Expressing concern over long duration power cuts in Jagti, Mr Kissu said 12 hour power cut in a day amounts to human rights violation. He said the community is now hopeful that the new Government at Centre led by Narendra Modi who is fully aware of the problems of displaced Pandits will address their issues at the earliest.
The meeting among others was addressed by Prof G L Koul chief advisor of the Forum, P L Sudeshi its president, P N Raina, general secretary, Chaman Lal Koul, Rajni Thaploo, Phoola Ji, Nana Ji Bhan, Chaman Lal, Bal Ji and Niranjan Nath.
