SRM University counseling begins

JAMMU, May 19: The SRM University has planned to open a 50 acre campus in Sikkim during this academic year.
Speaking on the sidelines at the counseling of SRM University at Kattangalathur in Chennai, president, SRM University, P Sathyanarayanan, said, “The 150 acre campus in Haryana has already started functioning with Engineering and MBA courses.”
Sathyanarayanan said that the counseling, which began today, would go on till May 24.
He also added that of the 1.4 lakh students who took up SRM entrance examination, 16 per cent were from Tamil Nadu and 20 per cent from Andhra Pradesh.
Sathyanarayanan said this year the most sought after course was ECE, which was usually Computer Science.
The students would be competiting for 7,000 seats that are available at the campuses of Ramapuram, Vadapalini and Kattangalathur.
SRM also plans on opening a Law school at its Kattangalathur campus.
Nearly 56,250 applicants are from the Southern states, 31,250 from Northern states, 21,250 from Eastern and 16,250 from Western states.
