KATHUA, May 20: Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Kathua has charged Rs 11500 penalty from six traders after they were found violating various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act, 1997.
A team of LMD, led by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay Verma conducted intensive checking of business establishments including Karayna shops, Hardware shops, General store, utensil shops, gas agency at Main Bazar Kathua, Jakhbar, Hatli, Chadwal and adjoining areas.
During the inspection, a number of shops were inspected and a penalty of Rs 11500 was imposed on six traders for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act, 1997.
The Department also booked one gas agency at Chadwal for possession and sale of underweight LPG cylinder and using defective electronic weighing machine for weighing of LPG cylinders and recovered Rs 10000 as fine.
