Kang Sings, Maryul Spamo secure SF spots in REIHL

LEH, Jan 9: The Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League Season 2 saw a thrilling day of action, with defending champions Kang Sings and Maryul Spamo secured their spots in the semi-finals.
In the men’s category, Kang Sings produced the biggest win of the season, thrashing United Nubra by 9-0. Captain Mushtaq Ahmed was the star of the match, scoring four goals to lead his team to an emphatic victory. The game was a one-sided affair, with the Sings taking a 1-0 lead in the first period. The floodgates opened in the second, with Mushtaq netting a brace and extending their lead. He completed his hat-trick in the final period, with additional goals from Stanzin Lotos, Stanzin Phuntsog and Deldan Namgyal sealing the biggest win of the tournament so far.
In another men’s clash, Changla Blasters held Shakar Chiktan Royals to a 2-2 draw. Stanzin Namgial gave the Blasters an early lead, but the Royals fought back through Ali Akbar and Asgar Ali to go 2-1 up. However, Tundup Gyalson’s equalizer in the final period ensured both teams shared the spoils.
Purig Warriors also kept their semi-final hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Maryul Spawo. After a goalless first period, Kunchuk Tharpa scored to break the deadlock, and Sarfaraz Hussain sealed the win with a late strike.
In the women’s category, Maryul Spamo continued their dominant form, defeating Sham Eagles by 2-0 to book their semi-final spot. Skipper Padma Chorol and Rinchen Dolma found the back of the net in the first period, and Spamo’s strong defense held firm in the second half.
