SRINAGAR, May 23:
Three policemen were today injured in a scuffle with trainees of Army’s High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) at Sonamarg in Ganderbal district of Kashmir.
“There was a scuffle between HAWS men and cops posted at a police barrier in Sonamarg. Three cops were injured,” Superintendent of Police Ganderbal Shahid Mehraj told PTI.
He said a case has been registered against the HAWS men and investigations started.
Police sources said the HAWS personnel thrashed the policemen and even snatched the weapon of one of them.
According to the sources, some local cab operators yesterday lodged a complaint with the police against HAWS personnel, alleging that they had vandalised their two vehicles.
The scuffle between the policemen and HAWS personnel took place over this complaint, the sources said.
An Army spokesman said there was an altercation between policemen and HAWS personnel.
“The matter is being jointly investigated. Both HAWS and police are disciplined forces and anyone found guilty of violating discipline will be taken to task as per the rules and regulations,” the spokesman added. (AGENCIES)
