*Maharashtra clinches title, Gujarat secured second place

JAMMU, Jan 13: Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) secured the 2nd Runner-Up position in the National Aerobic Gymnastics Championship, held at the New Gymnastics Academy, MA Stadium, Jammu. Maharashtra clinched the 1st position, followed by Gujarat in 2nd place.
Notably, two J&K gymnasts, Rudraksh Khanna and Riya Sharma, were selected for the prestigious FIG Suzuki World Cup, marking a significant achievement for the state in national gymnastics.
The final events of the championship saw exciting performances. In the Trio Final, Maharashtra bagged the Gold, West Bengal the Silver, and Manipur took home the Bronze. The medals were presented by Arvind Gupta, MLA Jammu West, as chief guest, with Shilpa Gupta as the guest of honour.
In the Individual Men Final (Senior), the Gold Medal went to Umajit Okram from Manipur, while Arya Pavan Shah from Maharashtra won Silver and Meet Kosambia from Gujarat claimed Bronze. The medals were awarded by Deepak Gupta, Chairman of the Trader Association Warehouse, with Jahangir Mir and Manvinder Singh as guests of honour.
The Step Final (Senior) saw Maharashtra win Gold, Jharkhand Silver and Chandigarh Bronze, with the medals presented by Anneshwar Chatterjee Koul, with Kusum Tikkoo, R.K. Tikkoo and Ashok Sumbli as guests of honour.
In the Trio Final (Junior), Manipur emerged victorious with the Gold, followed by West Bengal with Silver and Maharashtra with Bronze.
This championship was organized in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, under the patronage of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and full support from Secretary Nuzhat Gul. The successful hosting of this event marks a milestone, as it is the third consecutive year J&K has hosted the National Gymnastics Championship within four years. Additionally, J&K also hosted an advanced training camp in Srinagar, with foreign coaches engaging in the selection trials for the Indian Gymnastics team.
The event was made successful by the efforts of S.P. Singh, Chairman & Director of Competition, and the dedicated team from the Gymnastics Association of J&K, led by Er. Kiran Wattal, Vice-President of Gymnastics Federation of India, and President of the Gymnastics Association of J&K, alongside Tajinder Singh (Organizing Secretary), Anil Khajuria (Treasurer), and other members.
