JAMMU, Jan 15: The prestigious LAKSH Season 6 football tournament, Ladakh’s largest sporting event held outside the region, concluded with an exhilarating final at the Mini Stadium, Jammu. Realona FC Kargil emerged victorious after defeating Indus Chuchot by 2-1 in a thrilling match.
The annual tournament, organized by the LAKSH Society Ladakh under the banner “Yes to Sports, No to Drugs,” not only showcased the region’s footballing talent but also fostered a spirit of unity among the people. The electrifying atmosphere in the stadium was a testament to the growing love for football in Ladakh.
Several individual and team awards were presented at the event. Norbu of Realona FC was named Best Goalkeeper, Mussa of the same team secured the title of Best Defender and Arif Hussain of Indus Chuchot took home the Top Scorer award. Arif Hussain was also honoured as Best Striker, while his teammate Asgar Ali was recognized as Best Midfielder. FC Baroo was named the tournament’s most promising team, with Zubair from MEWSL Academy named Emerging Player.
The grand finale was attended by SSP North Jammu Vivek Shekhar Sharma as the chief guest, with Prof. Shujaat Khan as the guest of honour and Showkat Ali Lonpo as the special guest. The event also saw the presence of Sudhir Anand, founder of Dhruv Institute Jammu, Sajeed Jafarry, Director of Laksh Society, and Nasir Rehnuma, MD of Rehnuma Infratech, among other prominent figures.
