Army organizes volleyball tournament

JAMMU, May 26: In continuation with its efforts for upliftment of local youths of the area, by providing an opportunity to showcase their talent and acquire a level of self-confidence, Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah under Delta Force started a Volleyball Tournament at Channi, today.
The tournament will be conducted from today to May 31, 2014 to promote sports activities, peace and brotherhood in the area.
A total of 12 teams participated in the tournament, consisting players from local sports club, school and colleges of villages Chinta, Nalthi, Chinchora, Manthala, Malothi, Sitengal, Sarunda, Dugga, Naskaand nearby villages. The matches were played as per existing rules by league cum knockout basis. A total of 15 matches will be played between the teams of Pool- A, Pool-B, Pool-C and Pool-D.
The tournament was inaugurated by Suresh Kumar, Sports In-charge, Higher Secondary School, Chinta in presence of Kailash Chander of village Sitengal and Brij Mohan of village Chinchora.
The inaugural match was played between Sarunda team and Nalthi team. The Sarunda team won by (2:0).
