Jeera futures remain weak on sluggish demand

NEW DELHI, May 28:  Jeera prices moved down by 0.45 per cent to Rs 11,080 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators indulged in offloading positions amidst sluggish demand in spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July lost Rs 50, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 11,080 per quintal with an open interest of 3,747 lots.
In a similar fashion, the spice for delivery in June shed Rs 45, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 10,995 per quintal in 7,200 lots.
Analysts attributed the continued fall in jeera futures to offloading of positions by speculators on sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position that kept pressure on jeera prices in futures trade. (PTI)
