Everester Ram Singh, Stanzin selected for national mountaineering expedition

JAMMU, May 28: Two ace mountaineers of J&K-Everester Ram Singh Slathia and Stanzin Youthoj have been selected for two separate national mountaineering expeditions to be organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, the apex body for Adventure Sports in the country.
While Ram Singh has already left for Delhi to be a part of eight member team of experienced climbers which will attempt the virgin Latu Dhura peak (6392m) in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand during pre monsoon period, Stanzin Youthoj will be a part of expedition to Menthosa peak (6442m) in Himachal Pradesh in July, 2014.
The 13-member women team to  Menthosa  peak which is still a virgin peak for female climbers, will be led by Everester Teena Meena from Arunachal Pradesh.
Earlier, in a simple function held at the office of Mountaineering Association of J&K, the members of the Association congratulated the two mountaineers for their selection in the prestigious national expeditions and wished them grand success during the expedition.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included General Secretary and Vice President of Mountaineering Association of J&K Ram Khajuria and Yogeshwar Kumar respectively, Rahul Sharma, Director of Sprawling Buds School, Navneet Gupta, Secretary, Snow Trail Mountaineers and Rakesh Goswami, Secretary, Shivalik Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Club.
