Sir,
It is a common phenomenan among us that food is being wasted while consuming it. In marriages and festivals, we throw it in garbage and as such waste it in huge quantities. Here we forget how much labour our farmer does in raising crops inspite of all odds. He risks his life while spraying pesticides to save the plants from decaying. In present we have standing system of consuming food items. We take up extra than what is required for our consumption and later on put it to waste.
We are living in a country where 37 percent of our population line below poverty live. Is it not a matter of concern that we are doing great injustice towards these people. This waste food later on emits methane gas that becomes a cause of Global warming. Even in our hotels and restaurants people face this wastage problem. We Indians must understand that wasting of food is an ethical crime on one side and on the other side we are depriving millions of our people from food. We have to learn from others in saving our food and other NGOs can also play their role for the people of our country. We must not waste our food and try to begin it from our own families and then from others because Charity begins at home. It is important and need of the hour to work on the subject and for the welfare of our society.
Yours etc…
