JAMMU, May 29: Vansh Mahajan of Delhi Public School (DPS), Jammu bagged gold in Under-17 boys sabre event of the 13th Jammu District Fencing Championship, which concluded at DBN Vidya Mandir School Hall, here today.
Rakshit Bakshi of Police Public School won the silver medal in this event, while the bronze medal went to Urnesh Kumar of Shangrilla Public School and Sumit Sharma of Ranbir HSS, Jammu.
The Championship in which around 200 fencers participated was organized by the Jammu District Fencing Association in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, under the supervision of fencing coaches Shottu Lal Sharma and Rachna Jamwal, alongwith senior fencers Ajay Khatro, Anthony Mattoo, Ujjwal Gupta, Maninder Pal, Ranchan Sabarwal, Shivani Hans, Dimple Thappa, Pritam Slathia and Monica.
Divisional Sports Officer Rajan Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while Amarjeet Singh and Rashid Ahmed Choudhary were the guests of honour, who distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion. UC Dingra, president Jammu District Fencing Association and general secretary, US Rahi were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, in Under-14 boys epee, Shivalik Gupta of KV-2 won the gold medal, while Rudrpratap Singh of MHAC Nagbani bagged silver and the bronze medal was shared by Prabhjot Singh of SD Tarapuri and Saksham Gupta of DPS Jammu.
In Under-12 boys foil, Tanish Mahajan of Shiksha Niketan HSS clinched gold and Purva Suri of MHAC Nagbani won silver, while the bronze medal was claimed by Anirudh Sharma and Samarth Gupta of KC International School, Jammu.
Under-12 boys sabre gold went to Naman Bakshi of St Peters HSS and the silver was claimed by Harsh Anand of Neelam Public School, while the bronze went to Lakshya Sharma of MHAC Nagbani and Krish Sharma of DBN Vidya Mandir.
In Under-12 girls foil, Shriya Gupta and Vanshika of Convent and KV-2 respectively won gold and silver, while the bronze medal went to Palak of KV 1 and Malvi Arora of DBN Vidya Mandir.
Under-14 girls foil, gold medal went to Simranjit Kour of Army Public School and the silver was bagged by Simran Anand of Neelam Public School, while the bronze medal was shared by Sakshi Verma of KV Bantalab and Muskan Soin of DPS, Jammu.
In Under-14 girls sabre, Ananya of APS Jammu Cantt won gold, Kritarthi of MHAC Nagbani clinched silver, while Ashu Rani and Shruti Bhatia, both from DBN Vidya Mandir claimed bronze.
In open girls sabre, Priya Khajuria and Harpreet Kaur of JK Montessorie and KV No-1 bagged gold and silver respectively, while Jaspreet Kaur and Sanali of KV Sunjwan and APS Domana shared bronze medal.
In open foil girls, Anchal Dogra, Shriya Chib and Arushi of DPS Jammu, Parade College and KV-3 won gold, silver and bronze medal respectively, while in open foil boys, Dushyant Mangotra of MIET bagged gold and Ranvijay Singh of DHSS bagged gold and silver respectively, while Saujanya Chib and Ramandeep shared bronze.
In Under-14 boys foil, Saksham Gupta of MHAC Nagbani and Aryan Malhotra of the same school won gold and silver respectively and the bronze was shared by Jatinder of DBN Vidya Mandir and Hardyansh of KV-1, while in open boys sabre, Javed Ahmed Choudhary bagged gold, while Abdul Rafiq of KB Public School clinched silver and the bronze medal went to Rakshit Bakshi of J&K Police Public School and Vansh of DPS Jammu.
