Army jawan shoots self

RAJOURI, May 29: An Army jawan committed suicide by using his service rifle at his unit near Dhani Dhar in Rajouri this morning.
Reports said soldier Satish Chander (21), son of  Jai Chand of Uttrakhand and belonging to 198 Field Regiment located at Dhani Dhar area used his Insas rifle for committing suicide at around 6 am today. The jawan was duty from 2 am to 6 am at post No. 15 of his area. He fired a bullet on his head and died on the spot.
The other jawans rushed to the site after hearing sound of gun fire and found Satish in pool of blood. Later senior officers also reached there and police was informed. The police registered a case and started investigation.
Re ports said jawan had joined this unit after completion of his one year training hardly a fortnight back. Last evening he had talk on mobile phone with his brother who is also in Army and posed in Leh. His brother had got his phone re-charged. The reason behind this step was being ascertained. The body after postmortem and completion of legal formalities was sent to his home town in Uttrakhand.
