The accused officials allegedly connived with the private persons for misappropriation of Property tax in Jammu.

The Crime Branch verifications revealed that Nutan Paul and Ishtiyaq Ahmed during their positing since 2003 tempered office record by projecting higher amount in the `Warrant of Arrest’, issued on the name of the owner of the properties but reflecting the lower amount in challan against the same properties vide which money was received. The difference of money was swindled away by the accused persons.
The Crime Branch verifications further revealed that the accused officials dishonestly favoured private persons S R Sharma and Ramesh Chander Khajuria by accepting their wrong affidavits stating therein that the properties were not rented out. The officers and officials of Assessing Authority, Commercial Taxes Department, also favoured other private persons for extraneous consideration and the records are misplaced from the office.
