Notorious thief held with stolen items

BHADERWAH, June 4: Police today held a notorious thief and recovered large quantity of stolen items.
As per police sources, a burglar barged into the house of Mohammad Sheraj of Iqbal Colony and escaped with gold ornaments and cash. Before fleeing, the accused attacked wife of Mohammad Sheraj namely Rohana Begum.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and started investigation after registering a case under FIR number 71/14 under Section 454, 380 and 307 RPC at Bhaderwah police station.
On specific inputs, police team from Bhaderwah police station conducted a raid and arrested the thief from college link road Bhaderwah.
The accused has been identified as a thief identified as Mehraj Din Butt, son of Mohammad Ramzan Butt of Gurikraha, Gandoh of district Doda.
On his disclosure, stolen items including two gold bangles, two gold ear rings, four gold rings and Rs 23,100 cash were also recovered.
Further investigation is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft cases.
Police team headed by SI Arun Slathia made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Bhaderwah B Manhas, SDPO Ifroz Ahmed and SSP Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan.
