GANDERBAL, June 5: The District Level Annual Athletic Meet 2014, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded here today.
The Director General Youth Services and Sports, Jammu and Kashmir, Navin Agarwal was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed trophies, certificates, sports kits and scholarship cheques among the participants hailing from all the four educational zones of the district.
This annual grand event was held in Madr-i-Meharban Sports Stadium, Ganderbal and was participated by a total of 600 participants including 350 boys and 250 girls. The mega event was conducted in the age groups of Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 for 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 1500m and 5000m races.
Speaking on the occasion, the DG Sports appreciated the participants for their healthy activities and assured them better facilities from his department to uplift the level of sports in the State.
Principal COPE, Dr Hartej Singh, District youth Services and Sports Officer, Noor-ullah Andrabi, Principal Sainik School and Principals of other Higher Secondary Institutions were also present on the occasion.
