Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme commences

JAMMU, June 7: Dharam-shala Himalayan Trekking Programme organized by Tawi Trekkers, the premier trekking organization of State, commenced today with 45 students including 18 girls of Shiksha Niketan Secondary and Senior Secondary schools, Gandhi Nagar and Jeevan Nagar, Jammu, leaving for Dharamshala to participate in the prestigious adventure activity.
The group is being led by Sonam Sidharth, a senior member of Tawi Trekkers. Four representatives of the participating schools including Poonam Jamwal, Darshan Lal, Sudhir Kumar and Usha Devi also accompanied the group.
During the 4 days sojourn in  Dharamshala area the trekkers would visit McLeodganj, Chamunda, Dalai Lama Temple, the headquarters of Tibetan Government in exile;  Bhagshunag, Water fall, Dharamkot, popularly called mini Israel;  Dal Lake and Tapovan besides Nagini Devi enroute their journey to Jammu.
Earlier the group was flagged off by Rameshwar Mengi, Principal of the School in the presence of Ram Khajuria, general secretary of Tawi Trekkers J&K, staff of the school and a large number of parents of the students.
Meanwhile, the 3rd group of Tawi Trekkers for Moungri trekking Programme (J&K) comprising of students of Shangrilla Public School will leave for the trek tomorrow.
