BHADARWAH, June 7: Continuing with its efforts to uplift youth by providing them opportunity to showcase their talent, Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Youth Combined Cricket Club Bhadarwah, organized T-20 Cricket Championship namely 2nd Edition of Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at Government Degree College Ground, Bhadarwah, here today.
Keeping in view the popularity of cricket and interest among the youth in the area of responsibility, the 4 Rashtriya Rifles (Bihar) took an initiative to organize T-20 Cricket Championship in collaboration with Youth Combined Cricket Club, Bhadarwah to provide an opportunity to the youth of remote areas to show their talent and join Club teams.
A total of 100 teams are likely to participate in the Championship, which include the teams from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, besides the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Bhupinder Kumar, SDM Bhadarwah inaugurated the event in presence of Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles, located at Bhadarwah, Ifroz, SDPO, Bhadarwah and Bandeshwar Manhas, SHO, Bhadarwah.
In the inaugural match, New Star Cricket Club, Doda drubbed Bhalla XI by 6 wickets in an easy contest.
Earlier, batting first, Bhalla XI bundled out for a modest total of 102 runs in 18.2 overs. Babar top scored with 22 runs, while no other batsman contributed much to the total. For New Star Doda, Wasif was the pick of the bowlers who scalped 3 important wickets.
In reply, New Star Doda chased the required runs in just 10.3 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Wasif was the top scorer with 38 runs, while Riyaz contributed 24 runs to the total. For Bhalla XI, Ashiq and Babar claimed one wicket each. Wasif of New Star Doda was declared Reliance man of the match for his superb all-round show.
The match was officiated by Babar Mughal and Mehran Ganai as umpires, while Ahmed Magray acted as the scorer.
Sameer Shoket Malik, Video Analyst, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the convener of the Tournament, while the organizing committee included Zaheed Khan, chief organizer, Touqeer Bhagwan, Babar Mughal, Irfan Shapoo, Zair Sheikh and Muzzafar Hussain.
