SRINAGAR, June 14: The 60th Executive Committee and General Council meeting of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) was held here today in which the Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul was the chief guest.
President, SGFI Padmashree Satpal, Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Aggarwal, Secretary General SGFI, Dr Rajesh Mishra, Executive Members of various States and Union Territories of the Country and other officers of YSS Department were present in the meeting.
In his inaugural address, the Speaker lauded the role of SGFI in rendering voluntary valuable services for organizing sports activities at national levels. He said the Federation channelizes the sports talent of budding youth in the right perspective by involving them in various sports activities.
Mr Gul also appreciated SFGI for organizing sports activities in the Country, saying that organizing such activities at National levels promotes sports and strengthens the National integration among participants.
He said the delegates on return to their respective places will play role of Ambassadors of the State. He asked the Director General, YSS to arrange site seeing trip for the delegates.
Mr Gul said that the youth of the State have ample sports talent and the need is to chisel it by providing proper guidance and coaching.
He said that the SGFI should recommend a new comprehensive coaching policy for promotion of sports.
President, SGFI, Padmashree Satpal also addressed the gathering and highlighted the achievements of the Federation during the last year.
He said Jammu and Kashmir is the focused State where various initiatives have been taken for promoting sports activities by the Federation.
DG, YSS, Navin Agarwal, in his welcome address, briefed various issues relating to the development of sports in the State.
He said that adequate arrangements have been made for the comfortable stay including boarding and lodging of the delegates.
The Speaker, President, SGFI, Director General YSS and Secretary General, SGFI also released calendar of sports activities for the year 2014-15 on the occasion.
