BHADERWAH, June 20: Youth Cricket Club Bhaderwah and Bhaderwah Cricket Club got better of their rivals to advance into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Edition of Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhaderwah, under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Youth Combined Cricket Club Bhaderwah at Degree College Ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match, Youth Club defeated Tahir XI by 18 runs in a close contest.
Batting first, Youth Club scored a fighting total of 168 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Nadeem Mehta and Arshad Sheikh contributed 42 and 35 runs to the total respectively. For Tahir XI, Umair Lone bagged 2 wickets, while Rahib and Tahir claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Tahir XI scored 150 runs in 17.5 overs to lose the match by 18 runs. Shoaib Shapoo was the top scorer with 39 runs, while Asif and Javed contributed 28 and 24 runs to the total respectively. For Youth Club, Aquib Malik scalped 3 wickets, while Arshad Sheikh and Sheroz Malik bagged 2 wickets each. Arshad Sheikh was adjudged Reliance man of the match.
In another match, Bhaderwah Cricket Club (BCC) defeated New Star Doda by 6 wickets. Batting first, New Star scored a modest total of 113 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 15 overs, with Wasif scoring brilliant 57 runs and Salman contributing valuable 28 runs. For BCC, Naseer and Azhar took 2 wickets each, while Zaffer claimed one.
BCC, in reply scored the required runs in 14.1 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Naseer (47) and Asif (29) were the main scorers. For New Star Doda, Iqhlaq scalped 2 wickets, while Raja and Javed claimed one wicket each. Naseer Ahmad Bandey was adjudged Bajaj Allianz man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Aquib Javed and Usman Mansoor as umpires, while Sheraz Bhatt and Faisal were the scorers.
