Anganwari workers plea to Government

Sir,
We Anganwari workers of J&K State, want to draw kind attention of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah towards the miserable and exploited condition of women work force working under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) since 1975.
AWW and AWH working in ICDS Deptts since 1975 are grass root level workers at service delivery for various national programmes of Health, ICDS and Social Welfare Deptt. We perform multifarious duties like Referral Services, Supplementary Nutrition, Immunization, Health Education, Pulse Polio, Election Census, IPPI and other surveys. The credit of total claims of success of these programmes to a large extent goes to us. But despite performing diverse jobs we have been neglected and treated step motherly. An AWW is paid a meagre amount of Rs. 3500/- per month and helper Rs 1800/- as honorarium is a cruel joke in this period of increased cost of living. We have from time to time approached all the concerned to regularise us as Govt employees but all our request have fallen on deaf ears. We continue to be exploited as cheap and bonded labour.
We request you to look in the matter from sympathetic and judicial point of view and take personal initiative to ensure immediate and early action on the following genuine demands of the AWW:
*Regularisation of the AWW and AWH on the analogy of RET, REZ, Adhoc, consolidated, daily wagers and need base workers being regularised now-a-days by your Govt. only.
*Increase of honorarium of AWW and helpers may please be enhanced to Rs 100,00/- and Rs 5000/- respectively as interim relief pending regularisation.
*100 percent post of ICDS supervisor from the qualified, trained and experienced AWW.
*Implementation of the ICDS guidelines for promotion.
Yours etc…
Asha Sharma
