JAMMU, June 25: Eight people were booked by a team of Health and Sanitation Wing (HSW) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) under COTP Act and a fine of Rs 800 imposed on them.
They were booked during a drive against adulteration in milk, smoking in public places and against polythene carry bags, launched by HSW under the supervision of Dr Mohd Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC.
The team inspected various food establishments at Bikram Chowk, Residency Road, Maheshpura Chowk, Bakshi Nagar, Railway Station, Kunjwani, Gangyal, Preet Nagar, Narwal, Nanak Nagar and many other areas of Jammu city.
During the drive 150 pouches of Pan Parag and gutka of Suhana brand was seized from the shopkeepers and vendors around TB Hospital area and Government Medical College and Hospital area.
The team also destroyed about 15 Kg of stale cooked food and seized about 18 Kg of polythene carry bags. A fine of Rs 11800 was also imposed on defaulters.
