JAMMU, June 25: A meeting of All J&K Kissan Forum was held under the chairmanship of S Rajinder Singh, convener of the Forum here today.
Mr Singh made an appeal to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to constitute a Committee and order of Inquiry in the negligence of Agriculture Department of R S Pura when two lots of Paddy Basmati 370 has completely failed that has been produced from Chakroli farm R S Pura which means Zero germination of Basmati 370.
Mr Singh said that field functionaries were not visiting the fields and guide the farmers in time about crops though they are getting good salary but their output is nil. The farmers suffer due to negligence of officers. He said the staff is sitting in offices instead of going to fields and preparing information.
He demanded due compensation for farmers for their investment on seeds, fertilizers and laborers as they suffered due to negligence of Agriculture Department.
He said there is a general complaint that seeds and pesticides supplied to farmers are substandard but Agriculture Minister is not taking any action in this regard.
