SRINAGAR, June 25: S Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab today flagged off the 25-member Motor Biking Expedition from Chandigarh to Leh-Ladakh being organized by PTU and Aryans Group of Colleges, Chandigarh.
The Flagging off ceremony was held at the residence of Mr Badal.
Madan Mohan Mittal, Technical Education Minister, Punjab was the guest of honour, while Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
The objective of the Expedition is to project Punjab as Education Hub in the neighbouring States, to spread the message of Anti-Drugs and to boost adventure and sports activities among students and faculties.
While praising PTU and Aryans for their initiative, S Badal said that through this Expedition, the students will get chance to explore the culture of other States where they are going and also to highlight the prosperity, culture and strengths of Punjab in those States.
S Badal further said that Punjab has become an Educational Hub, adding that 15 years back, the students of Punjab had to move to South India for their studies and now the students of not only India but the students from South East Asia, Africa and many more countries are also studying in Colleges of Punjab.
Dr Anshu Kataria while giving information about the Expedition said that the students and faculties of different colleges of Punjab are participating in the expedition. Explaining the Route plan, Dr Kataria told that from Punjab this 16 days expedition would enter HP from Kirtpur Sahib side, then after passing Manali and covering Leh Ladakh it would reach Kargil. On return, the Expedition would cover Srinagar and Jammu and would enter Punjab via Jalandhar.
Dr Anshu Kataria also told that the expedition would cross 17 passes including Khardung La, Chang La, Tanglang La, Zojila etc. The Expedition would also touch two borders of Pakistan and China.
Also present on the occasion were Dr Prabhjot Kaur, Incharge, PTU (Mohali); Dr Jagmeet Bawa, Programme Coordinator, Youth Welfare, PTU; Prof B S Sidhu, Registrar, Aryans Group; Ms Varinder Kaur and Ms Tejinder Kaur, Coordinators, Aryans Group.
