JAMMU, June 28: Unemployed Veterinary Doctors Association held a meeting under the chairmanship of its president Dr Ishfaq Ahmad and discussed various issues being faced by them.
While speaking, Dr Ahmad said that the Government is least bothered about the future of unemployed veterinary doctors in J&K.
He added that Government came out with 63 posts for more than 1200 unemployed veterinary doctors in the month of May, which is mockery and rubbing salt on our wounds.
He demanded that the file for creation of 420 new posts, which is gathering dust in Planning Department for the last 5 years should be cleared without further delay, comprehensive policy for unemployed veterinary doctors be prepared so that every veterinary/animal husbandry centre should be headed by veterinary doctors and change in existing reservation quota for PSC announced seats.
“Stop selection of candidates for BVSc degree from department as it compromises the professional qualification of degree holders, reconsider the number of seats allotted to veterinary college of State”, he demanded.
He added that the Government should take up the matter with Central Government, so that degrees awarded by the State universities get recognized by Veterinary Council of India.
“We had taken up the aforesaid issues with the Chief Minister, but nothing has been done so far, which is compelling the unemployed veterinary doctors to come on road to get their demands redressed”, he added.
