Army organizes artificial limb camp

NOWSHERA, June 28: A free artificial limb camp is being organized for the locals of Rajouri district by the Jhangar Battalion under Nowshera Brigade at Family Welfare Centre and Women Empowerment Cell, Nowshera and Usman Hospital, Jhangar.
The local Army Battalion has liaised with a Delhi based NGO to provide free of cost artificial limbs. Registration of patients for measurement of POP casts started yesterday and continued till today. These POP casts prepared here will be sent to the said NGO in Delhi and fully prepared and functional artificial limbs will be provided by the NGO in due time.
A total of 47 patients have been registered so far and a measurement for POP casts of artificial limbs taken.
Meanwhile,  Territorial Army (Home & Health), based at Thalela, under Delta Force organised a medical camp for the locals of District Doda, today. The camp was inaugurated by the Commanding Officer of the battalion.
The medical team including four medical officers from Indian Army and civil doctors provided much needed specialised medical cover to ladies, children and elderly people residing in far flung areas.
A large number of patients turned up for medical checkup from the nearby village namely Kothi, Jagota, Sharni, Rokali and Chirala.  Around 432 patients were treated which included 167 females.
