PWD driver among two held with nagchatri

JAMMU, July 1: Two persons including a Public Works Department (PWD) driver were arrested with large consignment of banned forest produce ‘nagchatri’ in two different incidents.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police party from Thathri police station laid a naka and intercepted a PWD truck bearing registration number JK06-1020.
During checking, police recovered 40 kilograms of banned forest produce ‘nagchatri’ and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Naveed Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad Zargar of Malanoo Kahra.
However, a notorious smuggler of ‘nagchatri’ namely Dalmir Ahmed of Piyakul Thathri was also involved in this incident as he was smuggling the consignment of nagchatri through PWD truck by paying hefty amount to the arrested driver.
A case under FIR number 50/14 under Section 379 RPC and 6 Forest Act has been registered at police station Thathri and manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding smuggler.
Police team headed by SHO Ravi Parihar made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Doda Mohammad Sharief Chouhan.
Meanwhile, police team from police station Chatru led by SHO Inspector Rajinder Sharma apprehended a person namely Mohammad Ishaq of Passerkut with 17 kilograms of nagchatri.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 53/14 under Section 379 RPC and 6 Forest Act has been registered at police station Chatru and investigation started.
