SRINAGAR, July 9: Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul today inspected various developmental works of Eidgah Project and took stock of the pace of progress.
The Speaker was informed that the construction work on all ongoing works is apace. He asked the officers to work with dedication and complete the works well in time.
The Speaker directed the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the development of children park and earth filling and submit the same to the concerned quarters, so that the funds could be arranged for the purpose.
Mr. Gul also asked them to start immediate construction work on chain fencing. He also asked the Floriculture Department to prepare the estimates for the development of Rose Garden in Eidgah Park and start work on the project immediately.
He was informed that out of Rs.1.20 crore DPR for the development of the Eidgah Park, Rs. 20 lakh have been incurred by the Floriculture Department so far.
During inspection of meeting hall-cum-view point in Eidgah Park, the Speaker directed the Housing Board authorities to renovate the building on war footing basis.
He was informed that Rs.50 lakh have been utilized on repairs and renovation of fountain, garden streetlights, meeting hall cum viw point and paths so far.
He also visited various areas of Eidgah Constituency including Palpora and took stock of people’s problems, besides other developmental needs.
Several deputations met the Speaker during his visit and apprised him about their individual and collective problems.
The main demands raised by the locals included repairs and renovation of lanes, drains and early replacement of damaged poles and transformers.
Mr. Gul gave a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands will be looked into and directed the concerned authorities to redress the problem immediately.
Addressing series of gatherings enroute, Mr. Gul  said that the Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has taken various historical decisions, including the creation of administrative units to fast track development and extend governance to the doorsteps of the people living in far off areas.
